Dying To Meet You26th January 2018

It has been quite some time since I finished a book but I was glad that I finally done so.
It is even strange as to how book comes to me at times, I didn’t buy the book but was given. Also, I think I prefer reading story of their own life experiences, their journeys so far, how they are coping with the challenges and etc.
This book gives us a glimpse of how a female funeral director in Singapore being a rare sight handled various situations and how she wants to be a game changer as well. I admire her strengths and courage, more so her perseverance to doing it and going different countries to get trained. It gives us an insight of what her works is all about, another perspective of this industry to what we called it a taboo industry.
More so, it provoked you to think hard seriously on how you really want to end your journey here when you eventually do leave…

Ask Supernanny30h June 2017

I finally finished reading this book as I didn’t want to rush through this book. At first, I was wondering why should I be reading this book since I am the mummy, not the nanny. However, after reading it for a few chapters, I realise why. We are jack of all trades!! We are the doctor, the house keeper, the nanny and everything to our child.
Also, how to manage our child and the family dynamics became very important. Different family member expects different things and how to satisfy all is tricky. How to balance and still manage everyone expectation is essential as well.
The many different scenarios painted, the meltdowns, the “terrible two” stage, now are all coming alive for me so how to survive it through and work through the days. Much as it is draining and exhausting but it is very rewarding, to be able to see the little milestones that my son went through. How I wish he can grow up faster but I do know, in time to come, I wants him to slow down… 🙂
War Room (2015) 20th April 2017

I just finished watching the movie – War Room last night. I can’t recall when did I ask my hubby to get me a copy of the movie but it had been sitting on my computer desktop for few months already. Yesterday I decide to watch it instead of doing my usual routine of Time Alone with God (TAWG).
I was glad that I watched it and I guess time will always reveal itself when you are ready. The question is when are you ready to accept and receive it.
I literally have to write down notes while watching the movie.

The Real Picture 1st March 2017

I manage to hear his testimonial when he came to our church some time back and bought his book.
What I was glad is that he manage to come around it and step out to share today. However, it was not easy as well despite I still feel a lot of details have been missed out but what he shared was very important.
After writing my books, I began to appreciate biography better to understand why people take time to write their life journey down and what have they learn in this life hopefully to leave behind something that others can learn from it. An easy read despite life is never easy..

The Good Childcare Guide 3rd January 2017

Another book that I had just finished reading, this time is for my son, Titus who is going to childcare soon in mid January. Ever since I had him, I have been reading more, I suppose that is a good sign. To learn more about parenting and also how to better care for him. There is so much to learn and understand and there is no hard ways of doing it. Everything is according to his pace and timing. Sounds simple and yet difficult to apply.
The book is a good read on what to expect and how to react, then again it will be even better if it is written in Singapore context. I guess I have to refer back to the owner who lends me this book. Joanne, need you to come up with Singapore version. :p
《谢谢萤火虫》,《世界上最美丽的圣诞树》,《一双袜子吵架了》 5th December 2016

I managed to attend the Huang Shujun Book Launch on sat. Later in the night, I couldn’t wait to read the books.. Although my son is only 1+ year plus, I was glad that in time to come I can share the books with him. I believe both english and chinese languages are important therefore these books come in time for me to start with him. What attracted me first are the 2 titles – 《谢谢萤火虫》、《世界上最美丽的圣诞树》, but since I bought 2, I can’t bear to leave the third book out and I was glad that I didn’t.
The first book I read was 《世界上最美丽的圣诞树》 since christmas is round the corner. Nice warm hearted read and to show that we can all be a light to others in regardless to our shape, size and even colour. It doesn’t matter how big or small role we are but we can all illuminate in our or other lives.
《谢谢萤火虫》was the second book I read. This remind of me when I was young too afraid of the dark. I remember hearing some sounds late at night when I got up to the toilet as well, now I grown older, I realise they are just music of the night. In life, we will always faced obstacles and challenges, how we faced it is how we grew wiser. Simple story as it is and yet very thought provoking on how we can overcome our own fear and to educate our little ones as well. The illustration of the fireflies and stars also like me up too that I am sure my son will like it. 🙂
Last but not least, the last book that I read was 《一双袜子吵架了》was about teamwork. Having read this last, I realise the question being asked by her audience or readers constantly was what age group is this series of books suitable and why she kept emphasising that it is suitable for 3 years and above but really it is suitable for all ages. If you see as a simple book with 1 theme then that is what you see but for adults or at least for me, I see it as another different level of perspective on our own character on how quickly we are to judge others, where we focus on individualistic than team work and etc. Or maybe like what my hubby says I think too much, then again, as research has shown we probably utilize less than 10% of our brain cells so did I use too much or we are using too little of it?
Oh and for the record, I read three times, first time for the story, 2nd time to go through the illustration and lastly for the thought thinking process.. I presume is my 职业病 . 🙂 Also, I like the last part on the 导读 to guide us as parents if we are reading for our children what kind of teaching do we want to educate our children. So thumbs up! 🙂
Silence is not Golden 28th November 2016

Supporting another local author with this book which I finally finished reading. This time, the author is sharing about his own condition which is seldom known to us called Selective Mutism. As rare as it is, yet doesn’t make it any easier to go through and also make it harder to explain to people. He may be suffering from the condition doesn’t mean he has low IQ. Instead, he felt enclosed in his own self unable to talk as freely as much as he wanted to.
Also sadly things might be different if someone spotted it early yet nothing can be undone now. You can only march forward bravely and to face life positively. Nigel, all the best to you and may you always have a smile in everything you do. 🙂
12 Axioms of Optimal Living 9th November 2016

ust finished reading this book and decide to put it into my blog immediately. It was an interesting read when I first pick up this book as the 3 main categories started with “Your Happiness”, “Your Health” and “Your Money”. At first I was wondering why was the sequence as such and I will prefer it the other way round where money is always the first thing in the mind of most people. I kept my cool and decided to read on which I was glad I did. Indeed when we were pursuing money, we neglect our health and all our wealth ended up paying the doctors and leaving us unhappy. However if we are to start making ourselves happy, by being happy we don’t stress our body and keeping it healthy only then can we be an vehicle to build our wealth. Suddenly all this make sense, but why were we program as the other way round?
Do we blame the society, the education or our values? I think we have all been brought up a certain way, no doubt to fall in society norm and etc. However, we still being in control of ourselves are able to make our own decisions, purchasing power and many more. We still can tell the difference between good and bad, right and wrong. So why short change ourselves? We can make a difference if we can make the decision and conscious effort to do so. The question is are we willing to do so even for the sake of ourselves for our well being? How much do we want to wait before it is too late to regret at not spending enough time with our loved ones, not doing this and pursuing that dream of yours?

Because I am an Introvert 4th Oct 2016

Yeah, I finished reading this book in a few settings and I was glad. It gave me an in dept understanding of who introvert really are and thinking about. Also, I learnt a few tips on how to talk to them when I am with them. For the record, I “forced” myself to read everyday in the morning and night before I go to bed. So right now, I am still keeping this habit and hopefully in time to come, I am able to cultivate this reading habit that I wanted for the longest time…

Public Relations 247

This is a book that if it is the “old” me, I will never read it. Then again since moving to new marketplace, I took the time to read it. I must say the author has a lot of knowledge and expertise in it. So he can provide case study and show you how he did it not just by theory only.
